4 Ways To Prevent Bug Bites This Spring!

More Sunshine ... Less Bites!

With more sunshine, warmer weather, and longer days, it's never been a better time to go outside. And after being cooped up so long, I think we can all agree that we can't wait to finally catch some rays.

But with many great things to look forward to outside this season, there is something you're going to want to avoid when you venture outdoors...

BUGS.

And we're not talking about your typical fruit flies or stink bugs. In fact, common bugs all around you can spread some of the most dangerous diseases there are, like West Nile virus and malaria. (1)

But don't worry. There ARE WAYS you can curb the bug bites and enjoy the warm weather every day this season.

In this special seasonal blog, we talk about the danger of bug bites, and four ways you can PREVENT THEM so you can enjoy the sunshine ALL SPRING LONG!

BUGS AND SPRING

Although they may seem like an  afterthought, bugs are a seriously dangerous part of spring life. In fact, scientists often consider spring to be mosquito season.

And considering previous winters can impact how many bugs we face in spring, recent spikes in temperatures may indicate a worse-than-usual amount of bugs this season. (2)

This is because warmer temperatures enable more pests and bugs to survive the winter and enjoy life in the blossoming trees and flowers that bud in spring. (3)

FUN FACT: When they bite you, insects can inject you with something called formic acid, which causes itchiness, swelling, and inflammation. Prevent the inflammation before it begins by spraying on an ALL-NATURAL DEET-FREE BUG SPRAY! (4)

Warmer weather and changes in precipitation at the end of winter and in the early stages of spring can also mean more insect activity earlier in the year than usual. This is especially true in the case of ticks.

Ticks are definitely creatures you should keep away from in the spring, as Lyme-disease can cause significant damage to your body. Mosquito eggs surviving in winter also usually hatch in the spring, causing a burst of new mosquitoes you need to watch out for. (5)

And finally, more daylight also means more bugs wanting to get out of their wintertime activities earlier and go exploring, oftentimes right into your own backyard and home. (6)

Now that we know why bugs come out in the spring, let's talk about four ways you can PREVENT BUG BITES TODAY!

USE BUG SPRAY

The absolute best way to prevent bug bites is by avoiding bugs in the first place. And the best way to do that is by using 100% ALL-NATURAL INSECT REPELLENT.

Applying insect repellent with certain fragrances can repel bugs from wanting to be anywhere near you, helping you to stay BUG-FREE all spring long. (7)

Insect repellent is so important at preventing bug bites that the CDC actually recommends applying INSECT REPELLENT when leaving the country, as many drugs available to remedy malaria are not 100% effective. (8)

FUN FACT: In spring, many bugs are looking for new homes to lay eggs and establish colonies. Keep their new homes away from yours with a 100% ALL-NATURAL BUG-PREVENTION PLAN! (9)

Another great attribute of BUG SPRAY  is that it can humanely prevent bugs from bothering you and spreading diseases.

But not all insect repellents are created equal. In fact, insect repellents can feature a variety of dangerous chemicals and biopesticides. (10)

Many chemicals like DEET, which literally melts plastic, permethrin, which can kill brain cells, and other dangerous chemicals can turn your insect repellent into a pesticide capable of causing birth defects, a weakened immune system, cancer, and other long-term health problems. (11)

For an ALL-NATURAL bug spray that is DEET and CHEMICAL FREE, check out Garner's Garden 100% All-Natural DEET Free Bug Spray, which repels bugs and contains antibacterial and antifungal properties that will keep you bug-free all-spring long! Also perfect for sensitive skin!

BUG REPELLENT OIL

We talked about the advantages of BUG SPRAY, but spring can also be a tricky time of the year due to volatile spikes in temperature and dryness. That's why the best thing to prevent bugs AND stay moisturized is by applying BUG REPELLENT OIL.

Dryness is common in spring because being outside more can cause not only an increased exposure to bugs, but also to dangerous UV rays and environmental pollutants that can hurt your skin's ability to hold moisture. (12)

The best way to get the added benefit of ALL-NATURAL INSECT REPELLENT along with some added moisture is by using ESSENTIAL OILS, which carry antiseptic and soothing properties. (13)

FUN FACT: It can take days to know the severity of your bug bite. It's best to prevent them in the first place by GENEROUSLY applying DEET-FREE BUG SPRAY whenever you go outside! (14)

Dangerous bug sprays work by confusing bugs' sense of smell. NATURAL ESSENTIAL OILS like CITRONELLA can safely do this by masking the lactic acid and carbon dioxide in humans, which keeps bugs at bay.

Some ESSENTIAL OILS work differently, like LAVENDER, which actually contains an active compound called linalool that mosquitoes hate the smell of. (15)

Other ESSENTIAL OILS that are effective at PREVENTING BUG BITES, while still giving you other amazing, soothing natural benefits, are LEMONGRASS, PEPPERMINT, and TEA TREE. (16)

If you want to keep bugs away and enjoy soft, hydrated skin all spring long, check out Garner's Garden 100% All-Natural DEET Free Bug Repellent Oil, which contains Tea Tree Oil, Peppermint Oil, Lemongrass Oil, and Citronella Oil to NOURISH and PROTECT your skin!

PET CARE

You can apply as much BUG SPRAY in the world to yourself, but bugs can still come into your home through another way - your pets!

In fact, ticks can hide in your pets' fur, then enter your home, where they can cause harm to you and your loved ones by drawing your blood and spreading Lyme disease. (17)

And bugs don't just catch a ride on your pet. They can linger inside your pet's fur for a long time, as many bugs struggle to move around in animal fur. (18)

FUN FACT: You might not know if your pet is suffering until days after a bite, when symptoms or a rash can appear. Don't wait for problems to arise. Protect your pet today by washing them with an ALL-NATURAL PET SHAMPOO! (19)

And though bugs may seem harmless to the average person, bugs are anything but harmless to your pets. That's because bugs can pass on dangerous organisms that can enter your pet's bloodstream and cause them serious health problems.

In fact, parasites transmitted by bugs on your pet can violently attack their blood cells and cause fevers and other dangerous short-term and long-term health complications your pet desperately doesn't want. (20)

Being outside so much can also expose your pets to venomous insect bites that can leave your pet suffering. And trust us, your pet needs your help to protect it! (21)

To protect your pride and joy from dangerous bug bites and infections this spring, check out Garner's Garden 100% All-Natural Organic Pet Shampoo, which soothes your pet's delicate skin and repels bugs naturally and humanely! Also hypoallergenic!

BODY WASH

And though you can try as hard as you want to keep bugs away, sometimes the best thing you can do is to prevent a bug bite from becoming worse and affecting your day-to-day life. And that's where BODY WASH comes in.

In fact, the ESSENTIAL OILS in ALL-NATURAL BODY WASH can help relieve discomfort you may be feeling after a bug bite, as well as prevent potential infections and itching. (22)

Many ESSENTIAL OILS also are anti-histamine, which means less itching. They can also be used to target symptoms such as inflammation and pain. (23)

FUN FACT: Mosquito bites can cause skin reactions that can ruin your spring! Be sure to make this your GREATEST SPRING EVER by using ALL-NATURAL BUG REPELLENT OIL! (24)

ESSENTIAL OILS in ALL-NATURAL BODY WASHES also prevent your bug bites from worsening because many are antimicrobial, providing you relief and a calming feeling that can take away the side effects of the bite.

And if you've ever had a bug bite, you know that they can leave you burning with discomfort and itchiness, without even having been infected yet. ESSENTIAL OILS in ALL-NATURAL BODY WASHES are cooling, and will help remedy your pain. (25)

And considering simply washing your bite before symptoms even occur is of the utmost importance after getting bit, BODY WASHES are an essential part of your BUG PREVENTION TOOLKIT. (26)

Wow, thank you for the information on bug bites! I’m always getting bitten each spring and summer. Not only that I hate using bug sprays because I’d just be coughing from the smell and chemicals. However, I’m happy to find products that can be both a repellent and skincare product.
