How To Wash Your Face After A Workout!

Workout Washout!

Everyone knows exercise contains many benefits for your mind and body, but it also causes an unintended problem for millions ...

POST-WORKOUT BREAKOUTS

And if this sounds familiar, you're not alone. In fact, 53.3% of people over the age of 18 exercise and meet Physical Activity Guidelines, according to the CDC, and thus are prone to sweating, oil buildups, and breakouts after exercising. (1) (2)

Well, you don't need to worry about that anymore, because new dermatologist recommendations and a FIVE STEP FACIAL CARE SYSTEM will help you not only clean and moisturize your face to brilliance post-workout, but also leave you shining and looking fabulous for the rest of your day.

In this blog we talk about how to wash your face post-workout, and the steps you can take to achieve YOUR BEST SKIN HEALTH TODAY!

Everyone knows the importance of the post-workout wash, but not many people realize that awesome skin health actually begins before you break a sweat or step foot in the gym.

One of the most important things you can do before you start your workout is to WASH and TONE your face. Together these two activities will ensure you have no leftover debris on your face that can linger and cause you skin problems post-workout. (3)

And the consequences of not pre-washing are dangerous. Not washing your face pre-workout can cause sweat to mix with chemicals and whatever is already on your skin, which can lead to dryness, irritation, redness, and eventually inflammation. (4)

QUICK TIP: Remove your makeup before your workout to ensure a clean canvas before you sweat. For an effective and gentle wash that you can use multiple times per day, check out GARNER'S GARDEN 100% ALL-NATURAL FACE WASH WASH! (5)

So you washed your face, you worked out, and now what? Well, you're probably hot, sticky, and sweaty. But also after a workout, your natural stress-related hormone - cortisol - which can cause a collagen breakdown, is better maintained.

This is because exercise helps control your collagen production, but that doesn't mean you can't give yourself some extra support. In fact, the dirt and sweat on your face can undo much of the visible skin-boosting benefits of exercise. (6)

Exercise helps control your collagen production, which helps you achieve smooth and radiant skin post-workout.

It's also important to consider what time you exercise, as exercising in the morning, mid-day, or evening can mean different alterations to your skincare routine. It is important all the time, though, to have a clean face when exercising, and to avoid touching your face with dirty hands. (7)

MOISTURIZE

We know the importance of cleaning your face pre-workout and post-workout, but one step many people leave out is MOISTURIZING. And this step may just be the most important one in your post-workout skincare routine.

This is because exercising naturally brings blood to the surface of your skin as a result of dilated capillaries. MOISTURIZING counters this inflammation, restoring your skin to its smoothest and most radiant self post-workout. (8)

Moisturizing will help keep your skin protected after your post-workout wash!

MOISTURIZING also sets up the rest of your skincare routine, which can vary based on when you're working out. But commonly (if you work out in the morning), you can apply your makeup and sunscreen after MOISTURIZING. (9)

QUICK TIP: Sweating assists in the buildup of bacteria due to the wet and warm environment it creates. To naturally prevent body odor post-workout, check out GARNER'S GARDEN 100% ALL-NATURAL DEODORANT! (10)

Knowing you need to wash is one thing, but it's also important to know how. One thing to remember is to wash your face gently, as sweating heats up your body and causes your pores to open. Washing aggressively can cause unwanted irritation.

Similarly, having oily skin can cause your T zone to become especially vulnerable, so it's extra important that you clean this area of your face. Remember - sweat is a natural skin cleanser, so don't feel you need to be rough on your skin. (11)

It's also important that you wash with lukewarm water, and that you donate an adequate 20-30 seconds to gently spreading your ALL-NATURAL CLEANSER all over your face in a circular motion. (12)

If you're prone to sweating throughout the day, check out Garner's Garden 100% All-Natural Face Wash, which is tough on dirt but safe for all skin types! Great for use on acne-prone skin multiple times a day!

Blown away by all the steps taken to properly get the face clean after a workout and the ‘why’ behind it. Feel my whole life has been wasted being lied to about face washing because always just told to take the face towel and soap every day and everything would be fine. It never helped with dreaded teen years acne and long after those years, even not exercising everyday or wearing makeup, I battled acne wondering what was wrong with my facial skin. Stuff that dermatologists give made my face feel like crap & burned as a teen so I didn’t consider the option to make an appointment, so I just stopped caring resigning myself to breakouts until I die. Now I see I don’t have to do that.
